The Reggaskas were supporting the Land of the Giants at The Jolly Farmer, Newton Abbot. The vibe was high as the 8 of us set up and prepared to get the crowd dancing and grooving well into the night. Even though we’re all experienced performers, a few of us had those gig tingles, which isn’t always a bad thing! For over an hour we played our original songs live for the first time, getting the crowd warmed up to that ska-reggae fusion you just can’t help dancing to. Performing outside under the night sky was a real treat, and as we got into the swing of it, that feel good vibe only got higher.
Jon Evans from Dub On The Dart came to watch the gig, and really seemed to love our sound. The ‘tight drum and bubbling keyboard’ were the perfect background to a ‘skanking guitar, cut in with the addition of the 3 piece brass section, giving you a wake up call topped with smooth female vocals to get you on the dance floor’. As far as first gigs go, it couldn’t have gone much better than this. Land of the Giants are an incredible live band, and drew in a sold out crowd with a buzzing energy that lifted the roof (if there was one!).
Our next show is at Lemonfest on May 30th, which is a great festival with some incredible live music. Tickets are available NOW and can be purchased through their web site www.lemonfest.co.uk – hopefully see you there!
